Spring (Fair) is in the air for FUJIFILM

The team at FUJIFILM is finalising plans for the forthcoming Spring Fair exhibition. FUJIFILM's stand will be in Hall 3, stand D45.

The huge trade show, held at Birmingham's NEC between 6 - 10 February, is a key date in the marketing calendar for FUJIFILM and its Spring Fair exhibition partner, Epson. The companies will be launching two new Epson printers, the 17" Stylus Pro 4900 and the 24" Stylus Pro 7890 at the show. Both machines are high speed, low maintenance printers that provide high quality, professional prints.

Visitors to Spring Fair will also be able to see a demonstration of Wunderbars White, the new version of Wunderbars - the revolutionary framing system for canvas prints. For further information, go to www.wunderbars.com

FUJIFILM will also be showcasing the new version of its Easy Studio Print (ESP) software. ESP is designed to make printing large format extremely easy. The software automatically handles sizing, orientation and colour management. It ensures all media settings are correct and avoids errors saving on media and ink. It helps guarantee that you get exactly the right size and correct colour every time you print. The new version includes a host of new features including full colour editing, easy addition of text and a new 'Periscope' facility to allow for remote technical support.

Photo balloons, an exciting addition to the lucrative photo-gift market, make their Spring Fair debut on the FUJIFILM stand. These high quality photo balloons have a wide number of commercial uses from product launches, to weddings, to birthdays.

FUJIFILM will also be displaying its re-launched range of cut-sheet paper and photoboard and its latest selection of inkjet media.

New version of Wunderbars now available

Fujifilm has launched a new version of Wunderbars - the revolutionary framing system for canvas prints.

Wunderbars White is constructed of Swedish Pine and uses a slimmer profile wood (33mm x 46mm) than previous models. This means less waste is created in the manufacture, making Wunderbars White the environmentally friendly canvas wrap solution. Wunderbars White come in packs of 24 with sizes ranging from 8" right up to 30".

This new range features the same unique self tensioning corner blocks that made the original Wunderbars so popular. They ensure the canvas never sags and that the print will remain taught. This exclusive system also allows the frame to contract and expand according to the room's temperature and humidity.

Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm's Photo Imaging Group explained the benefits for retailers: "Wunderbars White enables shops to still offer high quality canvas wraps but at a more economical price. Canvases have always offered great profits for retailers and the release of this new range of stretcher bars will mean even higher margins."

Wunderbars' constant tension stretcher bars are even easier than standard stretchers to construct and stretch canvas prints. Wunderbars are precision machined so there is no need to measure the frame to get it square or constantly hit the frame with a mallet to keep it square during stretching, it will always remain square. There is no requirement for complicated or overpriced stretching systems, machinery or devices, the only tool necessary is a staple gun.

Hat-trick of Pixel Awards for FUJIFILM

FUJIFILM walked away with three top prizes at the recent Pixel Awards, scooping Processing Manufacturer of the Year for an amazing fourth consecutive year, plus a first for FUJIFILM Digital Imaging Service (FDIS) in the Multiple Minilab of the Year category and a victory for FDIS lab Frosts Photo Centre in the Independent Minilab of the Year section.

Appropriately the Awards were presented by someone who knows all about hat-tricks - 1966 World Cup hero Geoff Hurst.

Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager for FUJIFILM's Photo Imaging Group was delighted with the accolades: "As the Pixel Awards are voted for by the trade this is great news for FUJIFILM! We believe we have the best product range in the market and now that belief has been re-enforced for the fourth year in a row by the key people in our industry. It was also very pleasing to see our FDIS group do so well, we are very lucky to work with such a committed group of retailers."

FDIS lab shows photography on the radio CAN work

Island Photo Centre, the Fujifilm Digital Imaging Service (FDIS) shop in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, had an ingenious way of promoting their business via a medium not usually associated with images - the radio.

The management team at Island Photo Centre set-up a photography competition based around the theme of 'Isle of Wight in the Summer' and joined-up with local radio station, Isle of Wight Radio to promote the award.

Store manager, Chris Barton explains more: "The competition was a great success with over 100 entries being submitted. We then printed each entry and displayed them in our store, the public were then invited to call in and collect their print. This helped to increase foot-fall and also gave the shop a great temporary exhibition. The competition received regular plugs on our local commercial radio station and this really helped raise awareness of our shop. We're already planning our next photography competition."

Each person who submitted an image to the competition received a free 6" x 9" print of their entry with the main winner being rewarded with a Fujifilm F80 camera. Prizes were also available for the two runners-up. Lynn Hamp was judged to be the winner for her vivid portrait from the Isle of Wight carnival. Lynn was presented with her prize by Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Photo Imaging Group.

Peter Wigington, paid tribute to the team at Island Photo Centre: "This is just the sort of promotion that we encourage our FDIS stores to set-up. It caught the imagination of the local community and using their regional radio station to publicise the competition was a master-stroke, the radio people really got behind the award and helped make it such a success. Fujifilm is always happy to back such initiatives and it was great to see the winner's reaction when she received her prize."
